Mad Russian Golf Club

This golf course was a blast! We enjoyed all 18 holes. This hard hills, trees, and water all in the right places to make this course challenging. The Pro Shop was open early and set us off early being that we were the first tee time and ready to golf. Staff was kind in the pro shop and the Marshalls checked on us a couple times. One Marshall even told us the background story of how the course came about and made us enjoy it even more. Solid round and beautiful course. Lots of green fairways. Loved it.

I should have read the previous reviews left by other golfers regarding the rudeness of the female at front desk and whomever answered the phone. I made reservations for an open tee time (1pm) at a day before. I ended up spraining my ankle late in afternoon same day I made my appointment. I tried being responsible by calling the golf course right away (8:30am) to cancel. Female answered the phone, Immediately giving me attitude saying, she won't cancel (did not give me an opportunity to let her know why), tells me to call golf now to cancel my appointment - extremely rude in her behavior. I was surprised she was unable to cancel the appointment as so many course can. I called golf now, and they were unable to make contact. I called again an hour half later, this time they made contact. They put this woman at Mad Russian on the phone who absolutely gives me attitude saying, "!!you didn't say you sprained your ankle - you need to look at yourself in the mirror!!" *remember, she didn't give me the opportunity to explain before, saying, call golf now. ABSOLUTLEY THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE EXPERIENCED IN A LONG TIME- witnessed by the operator from Golf Now - who btw also made a comment, "ohhhkaay" seeming a little taken back by her behavior. This course would have been my go-to course since I recently moved here, but I will NEVER RETURN TO THIS COURSE AND NEVER RECOMMEND.

We booked this tee time weeks in advance, called to make sure we could have 4 golfers and a one rider. They said that would be no problem. Once we drove an hour to the golf course this morning we were told only two carts per tee time. So our 4th golfer offered to walk it and they said no walking allowed before 1. We only had an hour until 1pm. We were trying to come up with solutions so everyone who drove out of their way could have a great day, but the people are pro shop did not care. They wouldn’t even offer us a refund. Also The ranger at hole one corner our friend when he was just simply trying to ask how we could all make this work because he was willing to walk ALL 18 HOLES. Unfortunately he went home because he was so frustrated nobody had the human decency to let us have a good day. This course has beautiful views but the staff made it a very ugly experience and we will never be back.

Too bad there isn’t a way to give less than one star. Called in advance and they told us we could absolutely have 4 players and 1 rider with no issue so we went ahead and booked the tee time for over $200. Upon arrival they said they can’t give us the extra cart for our 5 players because they were “too busy and had a full house” yet they had plenty of extra carts just parked waiting (before, during and after our 18 holes). We tried to accommodate to them and said our 5th would walk the course with the rest of us in 2 carts but somehow you’re not allowed to walk the course before 1pm so yet again we went back to the drawing board. Our 5th ended up having to drive a hour back home due to the pro shop employees not wanting to help us or work with us at all. We eventually asked for our money back but we were denied so then we were forced to proceed with checking in so that we didn’t waste the $200+. On hole 2 the ranger came up to us and told us we needed to “close the gaps because he had a tee time later in the day and no one wants to play a 5 hour round” The course is beautiful but unfortunately all the staff, including the manager and the ranger made it a very horrible time. Again I really wish I could rate this less than one star. Used to love this place but I will never ever be back after today.

My son made a reservation on the phone for 4 on Monday August 21 for a tee time on Sunday August 27 at 9:00 a.m. He was sent a email confirmation confirming this. There was no option to prepay ahead of time and was not informed this needed to be done. We showed up to play and they did not allow us to play and we were not in their “system “ despite having an email confirmation. Needless to say we will not be giving our money to play here again. The woman at the clubhouse was not very understanding and would not help us.

I golfed in a 4 some this morning at 8a on the front 9. The starter guy was very rude about the fact that we had 3 sets of clubs and 4 golfers no where in the rules do I see where we each have to have our own set. He made us rent a set of clubs. Where the lady at the front checkin desk gave us the wrong clubs left handed instead of right. Then she was rude about refunding us at the end of our 9 holes. This is my favorite golf course and I'm very disappointed in the service.

It is truly unfortunate how downhill this course has gone this year. This was my favorite place to golf last summer. But after several interactions with the woman working the check in desk I will not be returning. I have expressed to multiple people who run the course that I am unable to get the online booking to work. The suggestion I was given was that I should buy an Android instead of a Apple device. My other issue that I have is that if we have a group we are unable to pay individually due to the rule that they want full payment to book a round. I understand that technology can take time to work out the kinks to preform properly. However instead of apologizing and trying to make the situation right they blame the customer and give no other options. It’s pretty sad when all the public & private courses in the Northern Colorado area do not make things this complicated. The Mad Russian is losing money to other courses by not working on improving their operations. To end on a positive note I would like to make a point that Mike and Glen always provide great service. It’s a shame that it doesn’t make up for the young lady who has an attitude that I normally have to communicate with.
